By a vote of 15-0, Security Council resolution 1701 was passed about three minutes ago. What happens in the next 48 hours will mark the beginning of a long process of reconiciliation and the establishment of a process to move forward. It is my sincere hope that states make a contribution to the UNIFIL to get it as close to the maximum figure of 15,000 troops. Without a dedicated commitment to the terms of the new resolution and to 1559's full implementation (the dismantling of Hezbollah), we'll be back in this situation again within a year, and all this will have been for nought.
